The Smorgasbord of Life
While more people graduate and move forward to living their dreams, I cannot help but think of the poet Emily Dickinson. She once wrote, "I dwell in possibility...the spreading wide my narrow Hands / To gather Paradise." Those words have a great deal of meaning for isn't life all about dwelling in the possibility of what we can do? What we can experience? What we can give?
Reading an article recently the question was asked, What advice would you give your 22 year old self? Reflecting on that question, I would say the only advice I would give my younger self would be to dream big, dare to try new things, and not to be afraid at failure. Thinking back to what I have experienced, what I have dared to do, there is truly nothing I regret but had I not done what I did, that is where my regrets would lie. There is a great quote out there that says most to not regret what they have done, but what they did not do. What are some things you have always wanted to do but were too afraid? If anything I would encourage everyone, regardless of age, to go out and try the things they have always wanted to do.
Life is worth living and partaking in the smorgasbord of experiences. As Oprah said, "Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility."
What is one thing you have always wanted to try? What have you avoided doing because you were afraid of failure?
